Instructions:

First prepare the struesel. To do this, put all the ingredients – except the chopped almonds and pistachios – in a large enough bowl and knead roughly, then refrigerate.

Rinse the apples, dry them, cut them into quarters, remove the core, peel and grate them coarsely and sprinkle with the juice of one lemon, mix well.

Preheat the oven to 180 to 200 degrees. For the dough, mix the butter with the sugar until very creamy. Alternately add the flour mixed with baking powder and the sour cream or crème fraiche, finally add the cinnamon.

Spread half of the dough on a round or square baking tray (approx. 30 x 40 cm), place the apples on top and spread the remaining dough evenly over the top. Sprinkle with crumble and almond kernels. Bake the cake for 50 to 60 minutes. Sprinkle with finely chopped pistachios. (The green of the pistachios looks very good on the photo).

Spread a thin layer of cold sweet semolina on top.
